Doug Stringer: Born to die

Doug Stringer: Born to die that we may live

This book looks at the Levitical sacrifices and relates them to Jesus... the perfect sacrifice.

It was interesting to see how Jesus perfectly fulfilled the five sacrifices described in Leviticus... the burnt offering, the grain offering, the peace offering, the sin offering and the trespass offering.

I like the part which talks about the peace offering (also known as the fellowship offering). This is a vow of friendship and a spontaneous expression of ones gratitude and commitment to God. This offering, unlike the others, was simply offered at the discretion of the worshiper, it wasn't to be given for a particular reason. As with the peace offering in Leviticus - when we show our love for Jesus, with gratitude and commitment - His presence comes to rejoice with us.

I found this book a bit disjointed and confusing. It had a lot of facts - to me it was just too much information with too little practicality. If you like this style of book you could get a lot of good things from it. I personally did not.
