Nova Aurora

There are a lot fo people in Sao Paulo that need help. Every now and then there is someone who wants help. But in order for them to change they need to get away from their surroundings. They need to get away from the streets; from the drugs and the people and the darkness there. They need to go somewhere where they can forget that, and where God can speak and show new things to them. They need to go somewhere beautiful.

Nova Aurora is that place. It's a farm a two hour drive from Sao Paulo, up in the Brazilian mountains. It has been in Cena's care for just a few years, but God has already done amazing things there.

It looks like a piece of paradise; with the houses on the hills, surrounded by mountains and trees and flowers, and the lake at the bottom of the valley. It's beautiful. It's peaceful. It's healing.

It's perfect.

ImageIt's the perfect place for these people to go, a place where they can breath and where God can start the process of change in their lives. It's not an easy process. It takes a lot of time, a lot of tears and a lot of pain. But it's happening. When someone wants help to get out of whatever keeps them in bondage, this is where they are sent. Some stay there for a few months, some for a year, some for two years. Some stay for a day and then return to the streets. Like I said, it's not an easy thing to do, and I'm so impressed by the people who stick with it, who lets God burn away all the bad stuff and make them new.

I only got to spend a few days there, but I'm so thankful for those days. When I first got there I couldn't tell what the people had been through. They all looked pretty normal to me. They where talking, laughing, working. But then I heard some of their stories, and I realized that this was not a normal place - this was a place of great spiritual battles. This was a place where they are fighting for souls. Where God fights for His children. Some people had only been there for a month or two. For some it was almost time to leave and go back to the "real"world. All of them were in the process of change.

Sometimes they loose a battle. Sometimes someone goes right back to where he or she came from. But more often there is victory. More often God raises up a strong woman or man from the scattered pieces that used to be them. It's amazing to see. It proves that there is always hope. When God is in the picture, there is always hope.
