Rua Augusta

RUA AUGUSTA

There's a street in Sao Paulo that is famous. Famous for its night life - for the clubs, the dancing, the rythm, the life. It's called Rua Augusta - or Augusta street. People travel there to party. All the big, fancy hotels are on that street. Sounds cool doesn't it?

ImageOne friday night we went there, a group of around ten people from Cena. We went there to evangelize, to talk to people and to pray. After seeing it, cool is not a good word to describe that street. Hell is a better word.

Yes, there are nice hotels there. There are nice clubs and places to dance. But right next to them are the brothels. And the strippclubs. And everywhere the drugs.

It's a street of chaos.

Everywhere you look. There's no way to hide from it. No way to deny it.

And there is no shame. No one trying to hide what they do. To them it's right, it's justified. It's freedom.

I only saw darkness.
