Thanksgiving week is over.

I spent most of it in bed being sick.

But I'm so thankful I didn't miss street church wednesday night. I feared I would; I missed the thanksgiving dinner at the Bridges where we were supposed to help serve the food. But wednesday night I felt okay.

Usually on wednesday nights we put all the food on a table and the people line up, get what they want, and sit down wherever they find a seat. Thanksgiving dinner was different; we wanted to make it special. We came early and set up tables and chairs everywhere, with table cloths and candles. And the food... we had loads of food; turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing... and then the desserts... I've never seen so many pumpkin pies!

As we stood there and saw more and more people come, the band started playing.

How great is our God.

For a moment, it was as if everything stopped. Forget food, forget stress, forget troubles. Forget who lives on the street and who doesn't. All those things don't matter. There's something greater than all that. In the end only one thing matters; how great is our God.

All the volunteers had specific tables they waited on - we gave them their food and talked to them, made sure they were content. We were there to serve them.

God wants his children to be treated well, like the princes and princesses they are.

We had enough pies to give everyone who wanted one or two to take home. When we thought all the pies were gone, someone found some more! We had more than enough. The pumpkin miracle...

No matter who and where we are, we truly have a lot to be thankful for. We have a God who cares for us, a God who provides for us. We just need to stop and remember that every now and then, and let everything else move out of the way and just think of that one thing.

How great is our God.
