March 26th (the bridges)

For the past two months our team has been praying for an area in Houston called the Bridges. The Bridges is a low income housing complex in North Houston. We have been praying that God would open doors for us to be involved with the young people who live there and for relationships to be formed.

A few weeks ago when everyone was on spring break the young hope team was asked to do a program with the teenagers there. We spent a few hours with them playing mad games where each team had to stick a team member to the wall!! We also got into small groups to talk about names that they have been called and how these have affected who they are and the new names that God calls them.

Since that week we have gone down each week to spend more time with the teens. Josh and Luke play basketball with the guys while the girls have girly time talking and eating chocolate!! ImageWe started a class for the girls to talk about issues that affect them such as peer pressure, relationships, parents etc. God has moved so much already in the short time that we have been there. We have had the opportunity to talk to the girls about some of the hard situations that they face and to pray with them. Many of the girls have come from abusive situations at home and are caught up in destructive cycles of violence etc. It is such a privilege to hear their stories and to be able to show them a glimpse of the love that Jesus has for them.
